Ahead of the 2019 general elections in the country, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Nassarawa state, Hon. Ishaq Ahmed Kana on Saturday listed agriculture, education, healthcare, youth and women empowerment as his top priority areas of his administration if voted into power.
Hon. Kana spoke at the Emir’s place in Keffi venue of the flagging off ceremony of his gubernatorial campaign.
According to Kana, his administration would also concentrate on human capital development to fast track the quest for an all round development of the state.
He promised to run an all inclusive and open doors policy for various segments of the state.
The former federal lawmaker said that SDP government under him would equally liberate the state from the hands of percentage salaries led administration.
According to Kana: “We will liberate Nasarawa State from the hands of failures, rescue the youths and women from sufferings and set the state on the path of prosperity”.
Kana, however, advised supporters of the party to form a united front to enable the party to achieve her drive for victory during the forthcoming general elections.
In his own speech the house of representatives candidate for Keffi, Kokona and Karu federal constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Bako, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues urged SDP faithfuls to support all party’s candidates across the state, noting that it is possible to replicate the victory the defunct CPC recorded in 2011 governorship, federal house of representatives and state house of assembly in Nasarawa in 2019.
The representatives of the SDP national Secretariat who is also the national leader of the party Mr. Jonathan Tsaku said the party was presenting capable men and women to the state ahead of the coming polls.
A house of assembly candidate for Keffi East Hon. Abdulazeez SK Danladi who spoke on behalf of other assembly candidates said supporting SDP would enable Nasarawa State to achieve a total transformation.
The state party chairman, Hon. Danlami Musa, explained that the party decided to field a governorship candidate in 2019 to right the wrongs of 2011 Nasarawa election.
In a similar development the SDP governorship candidate Hon. Ishaq Ahmed Kana, held a press briefing at his mother’s residence immediately the Flag-off venue.
He told some selected journalists that in 2019 election, there will be no excuse to distort facts.
Kana used the medium to appeal to SDP leadership to reach out to other aggrieved party members of various political parties especially those who were cheated or rigged out of the primary.
Mr. Kana also advised party supporters at all levels to shun campaign of calumny, character assassination, but focus on issue based campaign.
