Two Term Odukpani Chairman, Bassey Akiba Wins Reps Seat.

Former state lawmaker and two-term Local Government Area (LGA) Chairman of Odukpani, Hon Bassey Akiba, has been declared winner of the Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency in Cross River State.

Hon. Akiba who won his election under the umbrella of the Labour Party (LP), according to the returning officer, secured a total of 23, 759 votes to defeat his closest rival, Edim Inok of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who secured 21, 066 votes.

“That Bassey Akiba, having secured the highest number of votes and having fulfilled all requirements of the Iaw is hereby declared winner of the election and is returned elected,” the returning officer for the federal constituency said.

With the results, the two-term chairman of Odukpani LGA has been able to dislodge the incumbent member of the federal constituency Eta Mbora of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who came a distant third with 19,584 votes.
