Senator Melaye wins kogi PDP governorship ticket

Senator Dino Melaye have been declared winner of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), primary election held on Sunday at Kefas Multipurpose hall in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital.

Announcing the result, Senator Ahmed maikarfi who is the chairman of the primary election committee, said Senator Melaye scored a total of 313 votes to defeat his closest rival, Ilona Idoko Kingsley who pulled a total of 124 vote.

Others are; Usman Mohammed Kabiru, who scored 121, while the former deputy Governor of the state, under capt. Idris Wada’s administration, Abayomi Awoniyi Sunday, got 77 votes

The kogi state governorship candidate of the PDP in 2019 election, Wada Musa scored 56 votes.

Wada was defeated by the incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello in 2019.

Ojaja Gideon Enama, scored 5 votes, while 6 votes were declared invalid.
