Women in Okaito/Usungwe Ward in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State have been charged to close ranks and deliver massive votes for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman in next month’s election.
According to our reporter, the Coordinator of Hajia Onize Connect (HOC) for Ododo/Oyibo and grassroot political mobiliser, Hajia Yakubu Onize gave the charge while engaging the women in a critical dialogue ahead of the November 11th governorship election in the state.
Hajia Onize who disclosed that gone are the days when women were relegated to the background in the administrative matters of Kogi State, said the women-friendly government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello has surpassed the much-talked-about 1995 Beijing Declaration on 35% affirmative action on women’s inclusion in governance.
“The government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello has done much for the women of Kogi State in the areas of empowerment and appointment into sensitive positions of power in the last seven years,” FMT correspondent heard her say at the event.
“If you all want a continuation of this unprecedented recognition given to us, make sure your voices are heard clearly through the ballots by voting overwhelmingly for Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman, the governorship candidate of our dear party,” she added.
Fancy Media Team correspondent gathered that thereafter, Hajia Onize in her usual philanthropic gesture, distributed bales of wrappers to Okaito/Usungwe Ward women, just as she assured that the incoming government of Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman would signal more job opportunities and empowerment to Kogi State women and youths.
She appreciated the women for their support and prayers since the beginning of governorship campaign activities, and urged them to remain steadfast to the very end when Alhaji Ododo would be declared winner of the governorship election.
Chairman of the group, Comrade Siyaka Suleiman appreciated the Coordinator of HOC and her husband, Comrade Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege (aka Fancy) for their resolve to continuously attend to the needs of the people at the grassroots.
In their separate remarks, Hon. Abdullah Abdulsalam and Mr. Azeez Aningwere who appreciated Hajia Onize for her gifts and support for the downtrodden, promised to deliver their respective wards to Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman. Mr Aningwere specifically pleaded with the Coordinator of HOC to kindly find time to visit Abobo community to meet settlers that are eligible to vote in the forthcoming governorship election.
Fancy Media Team (FMT) reliably gathered that Hajia Onize Connect for Ododo Oyibo ably led by its convener, Hajia Yakubu Onize also extended the gesture to neighbouring wards which are Uboro/Omavi/Uhuepe and Eika Ohizenyi respectively.
She also went to Obehira Uvete Ward in Okene Local Government to strategize with the Fancy Support Group and charge them to deliver the ward for Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo come November 11th. She equally donated some bales of wrapper to members of the group.
