Oju II Unity Forum, the umbrella body of all the youths in Oju II State Constituency in Oju LGA of Benue State, on Monday paid a courtesy call on the senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro PhD in his National Assembly office.
This was revealed in a statement signed by the senator’s media adviser, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John.
According to the media adviser, members of the Forum, led by its National President, Amb. Eka A’adu Dickson, were in the senator’s office to congratulate him on his re-election, his court victories and recent elevation as Senate Minority Leader.
Speaking on behalf of the Forum members, Amb. Dickson said they of Oju II extraction were very satisfied with Senator Moro and had come to identify with him, appreciate and encourage him to keep up his good works.
Amb. Dickson said Senator Moro had facilitated and executed ‘lofty projects’ in Igedeland and Benue South at large, which are telling so much about his personality. He said the Forum had high respect for the Minority Leader, stating that they were proud to have him as their senator.
Dickson notified Moro of the coming Oju II National Day and requested his presence at the event to talk directly to the people. He said the National Day was being planned for members to felicitate with one another, show love and also reconcile differences.
Amb. Dickson commended the senator for his massive efforts to secure Benue South and encouraged him to keep up with his good works.
In his response, the Senate Minority Leader thanked his guests for finding out time to visit him. He said he didn’t take the visit for granted considering the fact that most of the delegates came from outside Abuja. He said he had had fraternal relationship with the Forum in the past and that the relationship keeps getting stronger and stronger.
The senator thanked his guests for acknowledging his modest contributions to the development of Igedeland and Benue South as a whole. He said he was greatly encouraged by the visit and the kind words, and vowed to keep working for them.
He said he was in office to serve his people and that he would continue to serve. He averred that he would not hesitate to do anything that he could do for his constituents, stating that all he needed from the people are prayers and encouragement.
The senator said he would continue to collaborate with the relevant government agencies and individuals with a view to building more infrastructure in Benue South. He revealed that a substantial amount of money had been captured in the 2024 budget for takeoff work on the Otukpo-Obi-Oju federal road. He also said that Owoukwu electrification project in Oju II had also been captured in the 2024 budget.
He advised against divisive utterances and actions, stressing that “We must downplay those things that divide us and emphasize more on those things that unite us.
“Let’s join hands together and build the Benue South of our dream.”
While giving the vote of thanks, Hon. Isaac Arubi thanked the Senator for the opportunity to meet with him again. He said their prayers were always with him and assured him of their continued support.
