The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State, Sir Tersoo Kula, has urged members of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to have faith in the leadership of Governor Hyacinth Alia.
He stated that the strides and commendable achievements in all areas of governance over the past year and a half are sufficient indications that the Governor has the best interests of the people of Benue State at heart.
Kula made these remarks in his office earlier today (Thursday, November 21, 2024), during a courtesy visit from members of the Benue State chapter of the institute, led by its Chairman, Dr. Kelvin Alom.
He said, “Today, the Governor had to start from the point of illuminating the streets in the town. We have seen this happen in other states and have always wondered whether it would ever occur in Benue State.
“If these things had been addressed in the past, the Governor could have channeled resources into other very beneficial areas. The same goes for salaries. The billions paid as arrears could have been invested in other sectors for progress.”
He added, “Though it is challenging for the Governor to initiate speedy development and he is often held back to address issues that were deliberately created and left for him, he comes from a background of fostering development as a missionary. He is not complaining but rather forging ahead.
“What the Governor needs from the people of Benue, especially the elites, is their prayers, support, and encouragement to consistently deliver results.”
Earlier, the Chairman of the chapter, Kelvin Alom, appealed for the consistent inclusion of NIPR members in key government programs, emphasizing that the institute is focused on the positive projection of government, institutions, agencies, and organizations.
He called for a strong synergy between the government and the institute, adding that the government stands to benefit significantly from this collaboration.
