Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has restated his administration’s commitment to making the welfare of the pensioners a paramount concern, and will continue to work closely with the Nigeria Union of Pensioners to realize this vision.

This was contained in a goodwill message delivered by permanent secretary, cabinet and special services, Momoh Steven Aziz, on behalf of the Secretary to government of kogi state, Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade, Ph.D, At Nigeria Union of Pensioners 10TH delegate congress on 26TH November, 2024.
“Under the leadership of our worker- and pensioner-friendly Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Kogi State Government is committed to making the welfare of our pensioners a paramount concern, and we will persist in working closely with the Nigeria Union of Pensioners to realize this vision.
“Just recently, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, made history by approving a new pension harmonization for pensioners in Kogi State, breaking a 20-year record since the last pension adjustment.
“He also declared the commencement of the Health Insurance Scheme for pensioners at both the state and local government levels, which enables the pensioners receiving less than NGN 50,000 to enjoy 100% health care support, while those earning above NGN 50,000 to pay a token for health services.
“The Kogi State Government has also ensured that monthly pension payments are made promptly and consistently to all eligible pensioners.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the union’s leadership for their unwavering support and prayers for the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
“The Kogi State Government, under the leadership of the Executive Governor, is dedicated to harnessing the experience and guidance of pensioners who have served the state meritoriously.
On behalf of the Kogi State Government, I wish the 10th Delegate Congress of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners Kogi State a resounding success. Our dear esteemed members of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners Kogi State, the guests, ladies and gentlemen. It is my honor to be standing before you today on behalf of the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade, PhD on this occasion of Nigeria Union of Pensioners delegate Congress.
I want to begin by expressing my deepest gratitude to God for the precious gift of life and the divine protection bestowed upon our esteemed pensioners who gathered here today and beyond.
I would like to extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt appreciation to the leadership of the union for their invaluable contributions to advancing the welfare of the retirees in our state.
Your dedication and hard work have paved the way for the betterment of our pensioners, who have dedicated their lives in service to the people of Kogi State.
This 10th Delegate Congress is an important event that will bring together all members of the union to discuss and address issues that are pertinent to the pensioners in our state.
It is a platform to share ideas, insights, and suggestions that will chart the course for a better future for our pensioners. As we gather here today, I urge you all to engage in meaningful discussions and deliberations that will lead to positive outcomes and solutions for the challenges facing our pensioners.
