Cross River State Governor, Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu and his lovely wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, have both been consecrated and installed as Apostle and Bishop respectively by the Voice of God Christian Mission Incorporated.

According to a post on the facebook of the Office of the wife of the Cross River State Governor, the event which took place at their home church, Voice of God Christian Mission, Calabar, was held at the instance of the General Overseer and President of the church, Her Eminence ArchBishop (Dr) Ananwan Lawrence Itam.

Accepting his title, Apostle Otu (the governor) affirmed his stand with Christ.

“I do believe the biblical standard according to 1Tim 4:6 demanding upon the enthronement, to heed to myself and to the doctrine and continue in them. I will constantly teach the word of God and inculcate discipline in the church as the scripture requires. I agree that the Holy Spirit will only and always be my source of strength and power, so help me God,” he declared.

Ministering at the event, Bishop Otu (wife of the governor), taking her text from 2Corinthians 3:17 announced to the congregation that where the Spirit of God is, there is liberty.

She said: “It is not over until it is over. Only God has the final say over your life, no man does! No matter how dejected, frustrated, and downcast you feel, hang in there, God will come through for you.

“He will liberate you from that situation, that trouble, that set up, whatever the devil has done, the Spirit of liberty will undo.”

In attendance were clergymen, political stalwarts, and Christian faithful.

Highpoint of the event was the Bishopric and Apostolic installation by the President of Mount Zion Light House Full Gospel Church, His Grace, Archbishop N.D. Ayakndue as well as choir ministrations from seven (7) choirs.

Meanwhile, a parliamentarian representing Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency of Cross River State, in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly, Hon (Dr.) Alex Egbona, has congratulated with Governor Otu and his wife, on their consecration and installation as apostle and bishop, respectively, by the Voice of God Christian Mission Incorporated.

The lawmaker, according to a report published by the Nation newspaper, remarked in a statement that it was not surprising that the General Overseer and President of the church, Her Eminence ArchBishop (Dr.) Ananwan Lawrence Itam considered the Governor and his wife for the exalted spiritual responsibility.

Egbona expressed confidence that with the installation of Governor Otu as an Apostle in the Vineyard of God, the people of Cross River will experience a new phase of sweetness.

Hear him: “It gladdens my heart to hear that my governor, Senator Bassey Otu, the man who is bringing sweetness to governance to our state, has been considered and anointed as an apostle in the vineyard of God.

“I am also excited that the First Lady and mother of Cross River State is now a bishop. It speaks to their commitment to the expansion of the kingdom and the good life of humanity. It confirms that the people of Cross River did not make any mistake when they elected the governor to be on the saddle and show direction on how to take the state to higher heights.

“Even before the consecration, the governor had ruled with the fear of God. What it means is that we will experience more days of conscientious governance characterized with integrity, fear of God, service to the people, fairness and better days of sweetness.

“The people of Cross River will be the greatest beneficiaries of this elevation. This is one of the greatest things that has happened to our governor and all we need to do as a people is to pray ceaselessly for him and his family because to whom much is given, much is expected and they will need God’s grace to succeed.”

The legislator enjoined all Christian leaders in the state to rally round the governor and support him to succeed both as governor and servant in the vineyard of God.
