It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that I extend my condolences to the Government and people of Cross River State, the constituents of Boki/Ikom Federal Constituency, the indigenes of Boki Local Government Area and the entire people of Buensebe political ward over the untimely passing of Hon. (Chief) Robert Abubakar Ewa, the Cross River State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, and former Executive Chairman of Boki Local Government Area. His demise, which occurred on January 8, 2024, after a brief illness, has left us all devastated.
Hon. Ewa, was a quintessential leader and a beacon of hope for Boki. He was a respected political figure and an opinion molder whose thoughts and values significantly influenced the development of our community. He was also a walking political encyclopedia, a trait that earned him the nickname “Paramount Ruler of Boki Politics.” To me, he was much more than a colleague; he was a lifelong friend whose companionship spanned over three decades. His unwavering support, wise counsel, and genuine friendship were invaluable to me, and his absence is deeply felt.
During the 2023 elections, as the Director-General of the Boki APC Campaign Council, Abu, as I fondly called him, played an instrumental role in my victory at the polls. His dedication to service and commitment to building a progressive and egalitarian community were unmatched. His life was a testament to selfless service and a relentless pursuit of the common good.
The passing of Hon. Ewa is not just a personal loss to me but a monumental loss to our community and state. We have truly lost a leader whose life was dedicated to the advancement of our people and the creation of a better society for all.
On behalf of the constituents of Boki/Ikom Federal Constituency, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Cross River State Governor, Sen. (Prince) Bassey Otu, the bereaved family, and the people of Boki Local Government Area. I pray that the Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest and gives his family the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
