Ambassador T. Brikins, has called on the Inspector General of Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to launch a transparent, non-partisan investigation into the grave allegations by Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against the senator president Godswill Akpabio and the former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on plans to assassinate her.

Advocate for Democracy, also called on the Senate Committee on Ethics and Public Petitions to hold an open hearings, summoning all involved parties, including Senators Akpabio and Asuquo, former Governor Yahaya Bello, and key INEC officials for questioning.
According to him, the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), must clarify its role in accepting and processing a petition from an unregistered group and publish a full audit of its actions to restore public confidence.
While calling for Protection for Senator Natasha, Ambassador Brikins, said full security coverage must be provided to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan by the Nigerian Police to ensure her safety during this period.

GRAVE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST SENATE PRESIDENT AKPABIO SIGNAL A DANGEROUS DRIFT—NIGERIA MUST ACT NOW
We are deeply alarmed by the disturbing revelations made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan during her public address in Ihima, Kogi State, alleging that Senate President Godswill Akpabio instructed former Governor Yahaya Bello to orchestrate her assassination and initiate an unlawful recall from the Nigerian Senate.
According to the senator, these plots were discussed in covert meetings, with federal institutions allegedly co-opted to aid and abet this unconstitutional agenda. The claim that INEC officials assisted in processing a recall petition sponsored by an unregistered group with a fictitious address adds a troubling dimension to the erosion of trust in Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
These are no ordinary political allegations. They are claims of attempted political assassination, institutional manipulation, and the weaponization of democratic processes for personal or partisan gain. If left unaddressed, this portends a clear and present danger to the rule of law, the safety of elected officials, and the moral compass of our democracy.
