Wife of Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State, Bishop Eyoanwan Otu, has embarked on the empowerment of over one hundred young Cross Riverians through the Easter STEM Bootcamp, an initiative championed by her to assist and support children of secondary school age.
This was revealed in a post on her Facebook page as the Wife of the Cross River Governor.
The post reads: “In a visionary stride toward youth empowerment and digital literacy, the Easter STEM Bootcamp organized by Bishop (Dr.) Eyoanwan Bassey Otu has successfully trained over 100 secondary school-age children in Cross River State.
“Held during the Easter break, the bootcamp provided an engaging and hands-on learning experience focused on computer appreciation, basic information technology, and a wide range of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) topics.
“The initiative, championed by the First Lady of Cross River State, is part of her broader commitment to nurturing young talents, bridging the digital divide, and preparing the next generation for the demands of a technology-driven world.
“Participants, drawn from various communities, were introduced to foundational computer skills, internet use, coding basics, and interactive science experiments designed to spark curiosity and innovation.”
It was indicated that Bishop Eyoanwan Otu while speaking on the impact of the bootcamp, stressed the importance of early exposure to technology, noting that “Our children must not be left behind. Through this bootcamp, we are laying a foundation for innovation, critical thinking, and self-confidence in our youth.”
The post further noted that “The program not only equipped students with relevant skills but also inspired many to pursue future careers in STEM-related fields. Parents and educators hailed the bootcamp as a timely intervention that complements the state’s vision for education and youth development.
“With initiatives like the Easter STEM Bootcamp, Bishop Eyoanwan Otu continues to lead impactful efforts that empower young minds and shape a brighter, tech-savvy future for Cross River State.”
The Cross River First Lady has been doing a lot to support her husband’s efforts towards putting smiles on the faces of Cross Riverians in pursuit of the realization of his People-First agenda.
In her Girls in STEM Project, for instance, over 3,000 girls (spread across the 3 senatorial districts of the state) have received essential training in robotics, gaming, coding, programming, with scholarships given to deserving students.
She has been vigorously engaged in different programmes and projects in the area of education, health, agriculture and social welfare for women, the elderly, children and People Living With Disability (PLWD). Her free medical outreach programme has benefited thousands of Cross Riverians.
