The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has commended the Speaker and Members of the Kogi 8th House of Assembly, for ensuring an atmosphere of collaboration that has defined the executive and legislative relationship in the last two years.
The governor who was represented by his Deputy, Comrade Salifu Joel at the Hallowed chamber of the Assembly during the two year anniversary of the current Assembly, noted that while maintained the independence of the legislature with honour and dignity, the Assembly have shown readiness to work in synergy with the executive arm for the good of Kogi State. “That is the kind of leadership our people deserve, principled, people-focused, and purposeful
Speaking further he said “It gives me great pleasure to be here today as we mark the second anniversary of the 8th Kogi State House of Assembly. This occasion is not just a celebration of time passed, but a recognition of service, sacrifice, and sincere commitment to the progress of our dear state.
“Two years may seem like a short period in the journey of a four-year tenure, but what you have achieved in this time speaks volumes about your dedication to the mandate entrusted to you by the people of Kogi State. I commend every member of this Honourable House for consistently placing the interest of our people above personal or partisan considerations.
“Your legislative work has been remarkable. The bills you have passed so far have laid solid foundations for effective governance, institutional strengthening, and socio-economic development across the state. These are not just laws on paper, they are tools for transformation and progress, and your efforts have not gone unnoticed.
According to Governor Ododo, beyond legislation, the oversight functions of the legislatures have been thorough and impactful, saying that they have been able to hold the executive to account in a way that reflects maturity, responsibility, and a genuine concern for transparency and good governance.
“Your commitment has contributed immensely to the quality of service delivery in our administration. also wish to appreciate the atmosphere of collaboration that has defined our relationship. You have maintained the independence of the legislature with honour and dignity, yet shown readiness to work in synergy with the executive arm for the good of Kogi State. That is the kind of leadership our people deserve, principled, people-focused, and purposeful.
“As you stand at the midpoint of your tenure, I congratulate you all and urge you to remain steadfast in the service of those who elected you. The journey ahead is just as important as the path already travelled. May the same zeal, discipline, and unity of purpose continue to guide your work.
“Let me specially acknowledge the Rt. Honourable Speaker for his leadership, the Principal Officers for their support, and all members for the cooperation and collective vision you have demonstrated so far. I also extend my sincere appreciation to the Clerk of the House and the Assembly Service Commission for creating and sustaining the administrative backbone that supports the legislature in its daily functions.
