The Pro-Chancellor/Chairman Governing Council of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Distinguished Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, has applauded the three senior lecturers of the institution who recently succeeded in securing world-class research facilities meant to boost the University’s research capacity and expand its access to global-standard scientific education for the benefit of the students.

The three distinguished FUOYE scholars that facilitated the research facilities are Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Strategic Partnerships, Research, Innovation and Linkages (SPRIL), Professor Olayide Samuel Lawal, Director of Research and Development, and Professor Cecilia Olufunke Akintayo, a renowned Professor of Industrial Chemistry and Schlumberger Foundation alumna.

They were said to have secured the high-impact research facilities worth over N400m from two internationally renowned institutions, Virginia Tech (USA) and Seeding Labs (Boston, USA), in a major leap towards the transformation of FUOYE into a hub for cutting-edge research on the African continent.

Ndoma-Egba equally commended the management of FUOYE currently led by the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olubunmi Shittu, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof Abayomi Fasina who is on leave, for the enabling environment created for lecturers and students of the university to excel.

The former Senate Leader described the development as remarkable, noting that it is a clear confirmation of the institution’s determination to become the best university in Nigeria.

“This is remarkable and speaks of the future of the university (FUOYE). It confirms our determination to be one of the best, if not the best,” the Pro-Chancellor stated.

Also commenting on the development, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shittu, stressed that the project’s success showcased a perfect blend of academic excellence and effective leadership decision-making.

The Acting VC was quoted to have said: “We must acknowledge that Prof. Fasina’s swift financial intervention ensured FUOYE gained access to this invaluable scientific facility. His unwavering support for research and innovation continues to place FUOYE on the global map.”

According to Dr. Wole Balogun, media aide to VC Fasina, “With the newly installed equipment, FUOYE’s research capacity—especially in chemistry, agriculture, and allied disciplines—is set to scale new heights. The University is now better positioned to train future scientists, encourage interdisciplinary research, and address pressing local and global challenges.”
