Over 30,000 supporters gathered in Calabar in a massive show of support for Governor Bassey Otu and President Bola Tinubu, calling on both leaders to run for a second term.
The crowd included youths, women, traditional leaders, political stakeholders, and community members from across Cross River State.
The event, organized by the Cross River South Consultative Forum, brought together all the different interest/political groups and local governments with the region and a fair number of stakeholders across the state.
It served as a way to appreciate them and formally present their united call for the Governor to continue in office.
The organizers emphasized that the Southern Senatorial District, which currently holds the governorship through Governor Otu based on the state’s power rotation arrangement, is grateful for the wide support shown by people from other parts of the state.
This is the first time in Cross River State’s history that such a large and early endorsement is happening even before the Governor has officially declared interest in a second term.
This, many say, is due to the political stability, peace, and inclusive leadership that Governor Otu has brought to the state.
Supporters praised the Governor’s achievements in infrastructure, education, youth empowerment, security, and agriculture.
They carried banners saying, “Good Work Deserves Continuity” and “People First, Again!”
With unity across the state and strong public backing, the call for Governor Otu to return in 2027 has never been louder or more united.
