The Executive Director, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflicts Resolution (CHRCR), Lokoja Kogi State, Comrade Idris Miliki Abdul, has condemned in strong terms, the last week Saturday attack on the Prime FM radio station in the state, describing it as a huge set back.
In a statement on Sunday in Lokoja, Miliki called on the security Agencies in the state to investigate the unfortunate attack and vandalisation of equipment at the Radio state and bring the perpetrators to justice.
While commending the giant stride of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in other sectors of the economy,
the ED however appealed to the Kogi State Government to pay more attention to the welfare of media practitioners and their institutions in the State.
According to Idris Miliki, the last Saturday attack and vandalisation of prime FM in Jimgbe, is worrisome and condemnable, which he said must be speedily investigated and tackled to prevent future occurrence.
While acknowledging the efforts of the state government, under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, in curbing insecurity in the state, Miliki, however said that, in view of the security challenges in the country at the moment, there is need for more stakeholders collaboration in preventing and countering violence extremism in the state.
“Federal and private Media institutions in Kogi State, deserves more care and attention from the host government as they complement the state owned Media outlets in the dissemination of government programmes to citizens.
“We sympertized with the staff , management and the entire media community in the state over the unfortunate incident at the prime FM.
“We urge the minister for information to pay a working visit along with the management of Federal Radio Cooperation to the premises of the prime FM station immediately, to ascertain the level of damage and losses in this all important Radio station, that have contributed significantly to information dissemination, Highly educative and entertaining FM Radio station since inception.
“We call on the Federal Radio Cooperation to immediately Relocate the prime FM station from its currently location for a better service delivery and more importantly for the safety of both staff and equipment of the prime FM station.
