Start-Rite Schools held its Primary School Graduation Ceremony, marking a milestone for the Class of 2025 under the theme Tuned for Excellence. Fifty-nine pupils took the stage, closing one chapter of their education and preparing for the next with confidence, pride, and purpose.
The day began with a formal procession, as the graduates walked into the hall in their ceremonial attire, welcomed by the applause of proud parents and invited guests. The school environment reflected the mood (orderly, celebratory, and grounded in meaning).
In attendance were distinguished guests, including but not limited to Senator David Mark GCON, former President of the Nigerian Senate; Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba OFR, CON, LL.D., SAN, Chairman of the School’s Advisory Board; Major General Garba Audu (Rtd); and Chief John Eimonye, a respected traditional leader from Idoma land. Their presence reinforced the significance of the occasion and the school’s continued emphasis on service, leadership, and cultural responsibility.
The programme featured a range of creative and intellectual displays. From the African Dance and Drama Club’s vibrant cultural performance to the debate presentation that showcased clarity of thought and composure, pupils demonstrated the breadth of learning that defines the Start-Rite experience. These presentations reflected growth in communication, confidence, teamwork, and creativity, skills that will serve them long beyond the classroom.
Mr. Femi Akinlade, the School Principal, addressed the audience, thanking parents and staff for their steady support and challenging the graduates to face their next steps with courage and integrity. He reminded them that strength of character, not simply achievement, will shape the future they create.
A special moment came when Uchenna Mbaike delivered the valedictory speech on behalf of the graduating class. He expressed gratitude to teachers and parents, acknowledged the journey they had shared, and reaffirmed their commitment to living out the values instilled throughout their time at Start-Rite. As a gesture of gratitude and social responsibility, the Class of 2025 donated a brand-new sound system to the school and presented a cheque of ₦200,000 to the Victor and Amaka Ndoma-Egba Foundation (VANEF). Both donations were made possible through proceeds raised from their performance of The Merchant of Venice, staged just before their graduation event.
Awards were presented during the ceremony to pupils for academic excellence, leadership, and commitment. Academic and non-academic staff who had distinguished themselves over the academic year were also recognised in front of a cheering audience.
As the event came to a close, it was clear that the graduates were stepping into the next phase of their education, firmly grounded in a foundation of excellence. Start-Rite Schools continues to build on this by nurturing young people who are intellectually prepared, morally grounded, and emotionally resilient, ready to lead with clarity, compassion, and confidence.
