The lawmaker representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly, Rep Bassey Akiba, has applauded Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State for granting approval for the disbursement of N800 million as start-up capital to young people to venture into agribusiness.
Rep Akiba who gave the applause in a statement, said the initiative will help to open sustainable pathways for wealth creation in Cross River State.
The lawmaker, believed to be giving his constituents valuable representation with the facilitation of various projects to his constituency, pledged his total support for the initiative while reaffirming his commitment to continue to partner and collaborate with the Otu-led government of Cross River State for the good of the people.
Rep Akiba’s statement reads: “Today, I wish to commend His Excellency, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, for his visionary decision to approve the disbursement of ₦800 million as start-up capital for young people in our state to venture into agri-business. This bold initiative speaks directly to the needs of our time empowering the youth, strengthening food security, and creating sustainable pathways for wealth generation and self-reliance.
“For me, this intervention goes beyond financial support; it is about giving hope, dignity, and a future to our young people. The Governor has once again demonstrated the true spirit of his People First mantra, by laying a foundation that will transform the energy and creativity of our youths into productive enterprises. The beneficiaries of the initiative are said to be 400 in numbers, and each is expected to get 2 million naira.
