Governor Otu’s commitment to empowering the youth of Cross River State took a step forward with the recent initiative that sent young individuals to Nasarawa for extensive training in the agriculture value chain. This program aims to cultivate a new generation of agripreneurs who will contribute to the economic growth and provide a source of livelihood and create wealth for the young men and women.

As part of this initiative, each beneficiary today (23/09/2025) received a grant of two million Naira as startup capital, marking a crucial first phase in what the governor envisions as a comprehensive empowerment strategy.

Otu, known for his track record in empowerment during his tenure in the National Assembly, during campaign stated then, “If I could do all of what I did without a budget, imagine what we will achieve when I’m governor.”

The program began with 400 participants, but it’s clear that this is merely the initial phase of a broader vision for economic empowerment and growth.

A pivotal aspect of this initiative is the understanding that failure to empower the youth could lead to increased societal vices, he insisted “You cannot stop the youths from vices when you have not provided avenues for survival and livelihood.”

In addition to the agricultural initiative, the Prince Otu-led administration recently implemented a retiree empowerment program, disbursing N500 million Naira to support beneficiaries across various demographics. This inclusive approach ensures that both the young and the old have access to empowerment resources.
