The Member representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency, Rep. Bassey Akiba, has commended the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, for his unwavering commitment to transforming the state’s agricultural sector.
This commendation follows the Cross River State Government’s distribution of subsidized mini tractors to farmers’ cooperatives.
Rep Akiba described Governor Otu’s agricultural drive as “a bold renaissance that rekindled hope in food security, youth empowerment, and rural prosperity.”
He noted that the governor’s proactive interventions are repositioning agriculture as a major contributor to the state’s economy, restoring dignity and productivity to farmers, and empowering rural communities.
According to the federal lawmaker, the introduction of subsidized mini tractors marks a milestone in mechanized farming operations, especially among small-holder and cooperative farmers who form the backbone of the state’s food system.
While pledging his continued support and collaboration, Rep Akiba emphasized that access to affordable mechanization tools will significantly boost productivity, reduce drudgery, and enhance the competitiveness of local farmers in the agricultural value chain.
