The Kogi State Vigilante Service on Saturday confirmed the rescue of a kidnapped victim at Irewagere forest in Adavi Local Government Area, Kogi State, after his abduction by suspected armed bandits around Obajana.
The statement by Idris S. Idris, Public Relations Officer of the vigilante service, identified the victim as Mansur Yakubu, who he said was in the kidnappers den for 10 days.
The State read in part said “On 14th November,2025 about 1000hours at Irewagere forest in Adavi Local Government Area, Kogi State, personnel from Osara Command, Kogi State Vigilante Service rescued one Mansur Yakubu, ten (10) days after his abduction by suspected armed bandits around Obajana.
“The successful operation was sequel to a painstaking combing of the forest and gun duel with armed gang following intelligence about the route and movement of the suspected armed criminals.
“Mansur, who was taken by the KSVS to a facility for medical treatment, after his rescue, was subsequently handed over to Nigeria Police Force, Oscars Division for debriefing and onward release to join his family.
“Comptroller General, Kogi State Vigilante Service, Alhaji Sani Omeiza Ibrahim, DIS Rtd who hailed the personnel of Osara Command, once again acknowledged the unyielding resolve of the State Chief Executive, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to achieve a safer environment across Kogi State.
