— As community solicit Government support in provision of critical infrastructures
A Non-Governmental Organization, Renaissance Care and Empowerment Foundation, (RECEF) has donated a multipurpose grinding machine to Ajanaku community in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Speaking during the presentation, the Programme Officer of RECEF, Whitney Ekoriko, noted that the donation was to assist the community in improving the living standard of the people after a critical need assessment was conducted earlier.
She called on the community to take ownership of the item, saying this will encourage further intervention by RECEF and other similar organizations.
In his address, the Executive Director of RECEF and Co-chair Open Government Partnership, (OGP), Ambassador Idris Ozovehe Muraina, assured the community of more interventions to improve their living standard.
According to him, the organization and Kogi NGOs Network, (KONGONET) will continue to pursue other requests of the community before the Kogi State Government, which includes the supply of transformer to improve electricity supply to the community.
While commending the resilience of the people of the community, Ambassador Muraina, called on the people to continue to ensure peace in the area.
Earlier, Hameed Abdulrasheed, the Community chairman of Ajanaku community, thanked RECEF for the donation, assuring that they will use the machine for the service of the people of the community.
While commending the Kogi state government, under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his commitment to the welfare of the people of the state, he solicited the intervention of the government in the supply of a transformer to boost electricity supply in the community.
He listed other needs of the community to include; a health care facility, school for the education of their children and supply of agricultural imputes to assist them in farming.
“As you can see, here is an agricultural community. We therefore request the assistance of government in the supply of agricultural imputes to boost our farming.
A community leader in the Area, Mr. Isiaka also called on government to invest in the education of their children, by building a school in the area.
“The Governor is trying in the area of human capital development. We want Governor Ododo to extend the same gesture to Ajanaku community.
Ajanaku community is a border community between Adavi LGA and Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
