As the Ebira Welfare Association of Radio Kogi marks its maiden Cultural Day in Lokoja, the Kogi State Capital, the Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka has called for the promotion of culture as a necessity in human existence.
Comrade Onuh Edoka who made the remark on Wednesday at the Radio Kogi Headquarters in Lokoja, noted that the initiative should be appreciated, especially when considering the place of culture in human existence.
The Special Adviser appreciated the initiative of the organizers, stressing that such idea should be emulated in all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the government in Kogi State.
”It is important to note that Radio Kogi has already set a pace in which other offices should emulate, especially for the purpose of cultural promotion and integration”, he stated.
Comrade Edoka emphasized that not less than nine labour leaders have been appointed into various offices by the present administration, hence the need to acknowledge such recognition by the Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo whose vision is excellence and service to humanity.
He called for continuity in the cultural day celebration and appreciated the Governor for creating the enabling environment for the people of Kogi State.
The Special Adviser who was a special guest of honour at the occasion, also appealed to other ethnic tribes to showcase their culture with a view to promoting same as well as attract necessary attention, both nationally and internationally.
In her speech, the Director General of the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Princess Nana Hauwa Yussuf said the event was to showcase the Ebira rich culture to the outside world.
Princess Nana Hauwa Yussuf appreciated the invited guests for honouring the invitation and assured that the event would be made an annual one and thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the privilege to serve in the administration.
Technical Assistant to the Ministry of Information and Communications, Mr Ebenezar Adurodija, Director General Protocol Government House, Alhaji Suleiman Ibrahim and other dignitaries offered their good will messages at the event.
Highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of Apapa, an indigenous food of the Ebira people.
