Bishop Eyoanwan Otu Hosts APC Women Leaders Across Cross River

Spread the love

Acknowledging the role of women as grassroot mobilizers, the wife of the Cross River State Governor, Her Excellency, Bishop (Dr.) Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, has appreciated the State, Senatorial, Chapter and Ward Women Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the three Senatorial Districts of the State for their strength, courage and resilience in the affairs of the party.

Giving the commendation during an interactive session with the APC women leaders, Bishop Eyoanwan Otu implored the women leaders to renew their unity and deepen their commitment to grassroots mobilization and return to their communities with a message of hope and a sense of belonging.

Her Excellency intoned that the “APC is not just a party, but a family that gives women room to shine. Let us hold the hands of younger women and bring them into this movement. Let us show our daughters that politics is not a man’s world but a platform for everyone with vision and determination.”

Bishop Eyoanwan Otu stated that “the All Progressives Congress is incomplete without the voices, the sacrifices, and the tireless mobilization of women. From the villages to the wards, from the markets to the polling units, it is women who stand at the frontlines, ensuring that our message is heard and our victories secured. For this, I salute you all.”

“But my vision goes beyond where we are today. I see a future where every woman in Cross River State is empowered financially, socially, and politically. I see women who are not just mobilizers but also decision-makers. Women who are building businesses, training others, leading communities, and sitting at the table where policies are made,” she added.

Calling on the Women Leaders of units, she remarked, “together, let us strengthen our structures, deepen our love for one another, and remain focused on the bigger picture, which is the growth of our party and the prosperity of our people. As women, we are natural builders, nurturers, and vision-bearers. If we stand together, united in purpose, APC in Cross River State will not just win elections, it will transform lives.”

Earlier in her remarks, the APC Vice Chairman South, Hon. Titi Ndifon appreciated the Governor’s Wife for her commitment to women empowerment across the three Senatorial Districts. She lauded the intentionality of the Governor in taking care of the party structure in the State and for timely payment of imprest.

She stated with delight the involvement of women in boards and parastatals at the echelon of decision making in the Governor Otu-led administration, adding that it has given more women the zeal to be involved in the polity of the State at various levels.

The meeting witnessed a high-powered interactive session, where the women expressed their concerns on certain issues of importance to them. Amongst the issues raised was the inclusion of Ward Women Leaders to the party congresses, intentional inclusion of women in strategic party meetings, and proportionate distribution of empowerment to hard to reach communities in the State.

The meeting ended on a promising note with the Governor’s Wife committing to ensuring their concerns are channelled through the appropriate quarters to the leadership of the party.
