Senator Dr. Victor Chukwunonyelum Umeh, OFR, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Victor Umeh, has been honored by Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), South East Branch, at the 37th AGM, Awards and Gala Night held at the Enugu International Convention Centre.
This was as contained in a Facebook post on the Facebook page the senator’s aide, Charles Ifeanyi Obi.
According to the post, Barrister Kenneth Okonkwo while presenting the Award of special recognition for Legislative Stewardship In Advancing Industry And Economic Development to Senator Umeh, described him as a gift not only to his family but to Anambra, Igbo nation and Nigeria in general.
Barrister Okonkwo extolled the innate qualities of Umeh, especially in making meaningful contributions within the political space.
He described the senator as “a political tactician” and a man with special intelligence “both native and academic”.
“it is an honor and a privilege that I, Kenneth Okonkwo was chosen to present this award to you. I do it with a special delight, on behalf of MAN. Congratulations,” he said.
In his remark, Senator Umeh commended MAN (South East Branch) for the impact in repositioning the South East after the devastating effects of the civil war which hampered the development of the Zone.
He noted that the Igbo people are creative and industrious, and with the appropriate support, the South East will become the Asia of Africa.
“I pray that this our place (South East) will become truly, the desire of our founding fathers, people like M.I. Okpala who used industrialization and agriculture to build Old Eastern Region. We will attain it, because we are growing,” Umeh stated.
He commended the Leadership of MAN in South East (Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi) led by Lady Dr. Ada Chukwudozie who doubles as Chairman of Keystone Bank and his Vice, Ichie Sunday Ezeobiora for the Award presented to him, and for their visionary and productive leadership of the Association.
The Senator assured them of his continued support for the Association and to always engage proactively through legislative activities towards encouraging South East Investors/MAN.
He further urged them to collaborate with South East Legislators in getting the needed government attention and support, maintaining that he will always throw his support whenever they approach him with issues concerning MAN.
Among the special guests at the Gala Night segment of the Event were the National President of MAN, Otunba Francis Meshioye, OFR, and the Anambra State Commissioner of Industry, Hon. Christian Udechukwu (who was Chairman of the Event).
