Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has lauded the Federal Government for the establishment of Five Mini LNG Plants In Ajaokuta, Kogi State.
Governor Ododo made gave the commendation during the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the five Mini LNG Plants in Ajaokuta.
The five LNG Plants includes Prime LNG, NGML/ Gasnexus LNG,
LNG Arete, Highland LNG and Bua LNG.
The Program is Initiated by the Federal Government in collaboration with the NNPC.
Speaking further, Governor Ododo said the projects will go along way to reduce carbon emissions, promote energy independence which is inline with global effort to combat climate change in the country.
Governor Ododo stressed that the establishment of the plants will create significant job opportunities, stimulate Local businesses and improved critical infrastructure in the state and the country at large
He reinterated his administrations efforts at investing in education to ensure that the students are technically skilled and employable to contribute to the economy.
” As we do the groundbreaking ceremony today , we have not only lay the physical foundation of this plants but also setting the state for a brighter and a more prosperous future for the state,” Ododo said.
He said, it is heartwarming that the decision for all the five project have been concluded and now at execution stage.
Ododo said the project is aligned perfectly with his administration’s vision of leveraging clean energy solution to drive a sustainable development while improving the quality of life of the people of Kogi State.
“The ongoing ground work to have an air port in kogi state will give the investing company transportation flexibility to access the location easily and will also beef up security to ensure that both the investors and investment are safe.
The Minister for Steel Hon. Prince Shuaibu Abubarkar Audu said the ceremony mark a significant mile stone in the Nations journey towards energy sufficiency and economic prosperity.
He noted that the establishment of the five plants in Ajaokuta is significant to the renewed hope agenda of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu in his quest to create one trillion dollar economy by the year 2030.
The Minister explained that the development of the energy infrastructure in Nigeria is a game changer of the country energy sector which he said will enhance energy security and position Nigeria as a key player to the global energy Market.
He also reassured the people that the president is committed in bringing Ajaokuta steel company back to life.
In his remark, the Chairman NNPC Board Chief Pius Akinyelure said the project will deliver a cost effective, long-term, and reliable natural gas solution to industry and commercial customers.
He said because of it’s strategic central location in Ajaokuta and proximity to the northern market , the project will serve stranded industry and commercial customers, saying gas from the project will provide suitable alternatives for customers using diesel and similar fuels as well as provide complement backup solutions to customer currently running on pipeline gas.
The Chairman also seek the collaboration of the host community to actualize government aspiration for the execution of the project.
