The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences Enugu, Prof John Emaimo, recently held a press conference to announce the university’s inaugural founders day celebration, scheduled for Friday February 14th, 2025.

Prof Emaimo highlighted the university’s mission to provide high-quality education, research, and service in the field of allied health sciences, with a focus on improving healthcare outcomes and enhancing the quality of life for individuals and communities.

During the press conference, Prof Emaimo outlined the activities planned for the celebration, which will kick off with a road walk activity called ‘John Emaimo Walk for Life’ on Thursday February 13th. The grand finale will take place on Friday February 14th at the Simi Johnson hall of the university.

One of the main reasons for the founders’ day celebration is to commemorate the 70 years of transformation of FUAHSE, from a Diploma awarding Dental College to a self degree awarding University of Allied Health Sciences. The institution has produced top-notch health experts not only for Nigeria, but also for countries like Ghana, Cameroon, and other African nations.

The ultimate founder of FUAHSE, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is also the Visitor to the University and the President of Nigeria, was praised by Prof Emaimo for upgrading and converting the institution to a university in March 2024. The university now offers 16 academic programmes that have been approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

In response to the expected increase in student population, the university has expanded its infrastructure by building a 1,000 capacity auditorium, a new block for Library and ICT, and an administrative block. Prof Emaimo stated, “We are committed to providing top-notch education and research in allied health sciences, and we are constantly working to improve our facilities to meet the needs of our students and faculty.”

The inaugural founders day celebration promises to be a memorable event, celebrating the rich history and promising future of the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences Enugu.
