Alleged invasion of NUJ by the ADC to Governor Bello, false, says Kogi Govt

The Kogi State Government has described as not only false  but malicious, the reported invasion of the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), by the Aide De Camp to Governor Yahaya Bello on Saturday in company of thugs and armed policemen .

 

In a statement signed by Onogwu Muhammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor noted that the said story as reported by some National papers and Online medium is far from the truth.

 

The statement which reads in part said  “Our attention has been drawn to a malicious story making the round that the Aide De Camp to the Governor of Kogi State, Usman Shugaba invaded the Kogi State Office of the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) armed with thugs in search of ballot boxes Saturday, 9 March.

Muhammed maintained that the said story is not only fake but satanic and highly condemnable , .saying that such unfounded news coming from a body of professionals is not only unfortunate but utterly shocking and embarrassing.

 

“For the records, the ADC to his Excellency Alh Yahaya Adoza Bello was not anywhere near Lokoja on Saturday as he was with the governor who travelled to Okene Friday 8, where the governor cast his vote in the Governorship and House of Assembly elections, adding that the ADC could have been in Okene and Lokoja at the same time.

 

He said that the report was targeted at ridiculing the government of Kogi State in the eyes of the right thinking members of the public.

“His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello who is a friend of the media condemn this kind of journalism and warned of future subversion of truth for falsehood.

 

“The media as the fourth ream of governance should be seen upholding the truth at all time and not misleading the public.  We are calling for an immediate retraction of this fallacious news item and an apology for maligning the government and misleading the public.
