Death of Alhaji Shagari : Ajasteel Management condoles with, Sultanate, family members 



The management of the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited, said it received with deep sense of grief and sorrow when it learnt of the demise of “our father, elder statesman , distinguished Nigerian Patriot, Teacher and the father of steel development, Alhaji Shehu Aliyu Usman Shagari, Turakin Sokoto., recently.


In a condolence letter signed by the Sole Administrator of the Steel plant, Engr Sumaila Abdul Akaba and addressed to the duo of Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad 111 the Sultan of Sokoto and president Ja’matul Nasir Islam, Sultanate place, Sokoto and his son Hon Barrister Aminu Shagari

House of Representatives, National Assembly, he noted that Shagari will always be remembered for his giant stride in the development of the country.

“Looking back, the late elderstatesman  gave meaning to purposeful leadership by his actions and deeds, particularly his uncommon drive and zeal exhibited by his effort at placing Nigeria on the path of industrialisation with his programme on steel development during his four year leadership as President of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria.


“We in Ajaokuta are beneficiaries of his great and lofty ideas, because the Ajaokuta Steel Plant as it stands today is and still will remain his worthy legacy. I strongly believe that his efforts shall come to fruition because of his strong believe in a virile nation with a strong industrial base.

“I believe that the passage of the Turakin Sokoto Is a huge personal loss to you and the entire sultanate. On our part, we are burdened with greater feeling of grief, because he has left us with a challenge that Ajaokuta Steel Dream must not die.


“It is therefore our prayers that your Royal Highness and the sultanate will continue to support worthy initiative that will see Ajaokuta Steel come on stream fully to the glory of God and the honour of the late Turakin.


“Kindly convey our prayers to members of your royal familyCourt for this irreparable loss and while praying for the repose of his soul to rest in perfect peace, we ask Allah to grant him aljan’nat Firdausi.
