FCE Okene Receives Eight Governing Council With A Rousing Welcome.

With high expectations and excitement, members of the Federal College of Education Okene, community treated the eight Governing Council to a rousing welcome, as the auditorium was filled to capacity.

The Provost of the College, Dr. Umar Hassan MNAE, while welcoming members of the Governing Council noted that the council was loaded with eminent personalities that would add appreciable value to the College.According to him, he viewed from the caliber of the membership of the council; as prayers answered.

He stated further that he has been assessing himself, to know if he was on track or not. He noted that the self assessment was necessary in leadership to enable someone build on whatever development he met on ground.

He therefore assured the council of the hospitality and support of the College community.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Akinwale Oladotun Coker having appreciated the warm reception accorded them by the College community, informed the congregation that the council has been strategizing on how to add value to the College.

According to him, a committee of three has been set up to strategize on how to use their political connections to attract projects and other good things to the College. The committee consist of Hon.(Dr.) Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, Professor John Ofem Iyang and Dr.( Mrs.) Seun Bosede Osamaye.

Immediately after the interactive session with the congregation, the Council took a tour of some facilities in the College. These include, the abandoned multi purpose theatre building, the gymnasium, College farm and the College Medical Centre.

Subsequntly after the tour of facilities , the Council Chairman commended the Provost for a job well done. He also noted that the projects they saw were phenomenal, considering the number of years the Provost had spent and the little resources at his disposal. According to him, the quality of completed and on going projects that they had seen clearly indicated that the Provost is a man of impeccable character that has genuine zeal for growth and development, and with the passion to serve the people.

In addition, he assured that the council under his leadership would ensure that significant progress are recorded during their term to beat their predecessors.

The Council Chairman further requested the heads of various facilities visited to submit comprehensive report on their challenges and other innovative ideas that would further boost the economic viability of the ventures to boost internally generated revenue. He also charged all heads of departments and units to sustain the peace that exist in the College, noting that it is the recipe to achieving academic growth and development.
