No fewer than five thousand persons with various ailment hace benefited from the three days free medical outreach organised by Maimuna and Usman Yahaya foundation in Ankpa local government area of Kogi .
The founder of the foundation, Alhaji Abubakar Usman Yahaya in his speech during the official commissioning of Maimuna and Usman Yahaya hospital in Ankpa said the free medical outreach was part of the activities of the commissioning to offer free medical treatment to the people who cannot afford the high cost of accessing quality medical services.
According to him , the establishment of the hospital was a deliberate effort by the children of Alhaji Usman Yahaya and Late Hajia Maimuna Usman to build a hospital that will serve as a stimulant in attracting blessing from God to the family.
“We built the hospital from the scratch with modern equipment . We have two medical doctors , a matron and 24 nurses .The 25 bed hospital was established to render quality healthcare delivery to the downtrodden almost free of charge.
” This is a community based hospital that will be rendering health services at a discounted low rate with qualified personnel that will provide quality health services to the people so that the issue of maternal mortality, Infant mortality as well as improving the health status of the people of Ankpa and its environs”
While calling on individual, corporate organisations to partner with the hospital in providing health services to the people , Alhaji Yahaya noted that the hospital aside the basic service it will rendered, it will also provide services during disasters.
The Kogi state governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello who was represented at the occasion by his Special Adviser on health Dr Ahmed Attah , said the commissioning of the hospital was in line with the vision of the state government in providing quality healthcare services to the people.
He charged the people of Ankpa who are the immediate beneficiaries of the hospital to guard the facilities against vandalization, assuring that government would not fail in subsidising surgical operations in the hospital to enable them serve the people optimally.
One of the doctors in the hospital Dr Blessed-Osberf Inyang disclosed that through the free medical outreach, people were treated in the areas of malaria, diabetes, ulcer, hypertension among others, adding that over 5000 have so far benefited.
A beneficiaries of the free medical service , Hajia Jumai Musa said she was diagnosed of ulcer and arthritis , confirming that she was given free treatment and drugs.
According to her “This gesture is a thing to be emulate by Ankpa people who are influential . The rich in the society should always reach out to the less privileged so that the society will be a better place to live”
