A Governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic party, (PDP), Alhaji Aminu Abubakar Suleiman has that his administration will develop the Confluence of Rivers Niger and Benue to boost tourism using Public Private partnerships model as a vehicle to attract Direct Foreign Investment to the sector.
He also assured the people of purposeful economic and human development that will meet the yearnings and aspirations of all and sundry.
This is as he noted that he will vigorously pursue qualitative and technical education that will make the youths the employers of labour even as free medicare for pregnant and aged mothers will be adopted.
The PDP governorship aspirant gave the assurance on Tuesday in Lokoja when he appeared on the NUJ organized Media Parley for the aspirants to interface with the people of the state.
Suleiman a chartered quantity Surveyor, decried the maladministration of the present government which he said has foisted hunger and depravity on the people , promised to reverse the trend with people oriented policies and programmes.
He added that the land and water resources which are in abundance in the state would be developed using the latest technology to unlock agricultural potentials that will attract highest numbers of the youths to the farms.
While assuring that he will establish farm metropolis across the state, said irrigation would be pursued to ensure all season farming, employing Research and Development ( R&D) to study the nature of soils that is suitable for crops in the various Local Government areas of the state.
He bemoaned the pitiable conditions of the civil servants occasioned by the epileptic payment of salaries promising to making the welfare and security of the people his topmost priority.
” The state right now lacked development fundamentals. It lacked welfare and the security of the people is constantly at risk. The state is not working . Kogi today has huge share of misgovernance . We will reverse the trend for our people to take ownership of their affairs.
” payment of salaries is very key to my administration. We will be paying salaries as at when due while we will gradually defray the backlog of salaries. It is a pity that our best brains in the state University have been sacked. We will not allow that to continue.we will make basic education free for our indigent pupils to realise their dreams .
“We will strengthen Korean Friendship Institute in Lokoja to train and retrain our people in the area of skill gaps and will support them to stand on their own.
” We will vigorously pursue economic revolution to enable our youths to participate in their economic lives as a panacea to restiveness . The abundant solid minerals donning nooks and crannies of the state would be tapped to generate income for the state
