I will work for an improve economy, intensify war against corruption, insurgency – President Buhari tells Kogi people

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday promised to improve the nation’s economy, intensify the fight against corruption and insurgency and the resuscitation of the ailing Ajaokuta Steel Company. if re-elected.


The president who was speaking in Lokoja during a presidential rally to drum support for his second term in office, lamented that Sixteen years of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), was characterized with looting and abuse of office.


According to him, over $16 billion Dollars was said to have been expended on power by previous administrations , saying their was nothing to show for it by the PDP administration as he said the nation was still groaning in darkness.

He said that all the money earned during the oil boom was stolen by previous leaders, the reason he said the country and its people have been subjected to abject poverty and needless agony


The president however reaffirmed his commitment to the fight against corruption, saying that every kobo stolen from the treasury by past leaders would be recovered and paid back into the nation’s coffer.


Speaking further, President Buhari noted that the nation would be able to tackle unemployment head long if Ajaokuta Steel Company is completed and functional.

He therefore promised that his administration would work towards its completion for the benefit of Nigeria and its citizens.

Speaking earlier, the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, charged supporters of the APC to vote and defend their votes, saying that they should not be intimidated by any one, adding that “If they try us we will try them”


He said the contest between Buhari and others is the fight between bad and good, corruption and integrity, stressing that another term for President Buhari would guarantee better living conditions for the citizenry, saying that the president has delivered on his promises in 2015.


He assured President Muhammadu Buhari of massive votes from Kogi State, saying that Kogi State would vote for all the candidates  of APC in the 2019 elections.
