Kogi State forum of permanent secretaries have described Governor Yahaya Bello’s civil service reform as progressive saying the governor deserves support to enable him consolidate on his numerous achievements.

The forum chairman, Jibrin Okeme, made this known after the forum’s meeting with the special Adviser on Local Government and chieftiancy affairs, Abubakar Ohere, in Lokoja on Tuesday.

According to the group, the civil service reforms has positively repositioned the state for better performance and effective service delivery.

The spokesman of the permanent secretaries, Abubakar Akowe,  who stood in for the forum’s chairman said the promotion in the civil service has been quarantined from tribalism and inefficiency.

Okeme assured the governor of their maximum support in moving the state forward adding that “we are in the same boat with Governor Bello. Wherever he goes we will go with him. ”

The forum said with the surgical operation carried out in the civil service, the service is now operating at its optimum.

The group also passed a vote of confidence on the Special Adviser, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, for holding his head high in piloting the affairs of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The forum noted that as challenging as the reforms maybe, the gains inherent in it, cannot be quantified, insisting that the benefit would outlive the pains.

Earlier, the special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftiancy Affairs, Abubakar Ohere thanked the permanent secretaries for their positive inputs in the civil service.

He assured them that government will continue to do its best in placing high premium in the state civil service.

The Special Adviser described the governor as a man with passion for entrenching a service that would truly be the engine room of government.

Hon Abubakar charged the permanent secretaries to replicate Governor Bello’s positive civil service reforms. He urged them to sensitize Kogi civil servants on government reforms.
