Kogi Guber; APC aspirant promises to priotize infrastructure, human capital development



An aspirant for the Kogi State Governorship election on the platform of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) Muhammed Audu has promised that he will lead the state to prosperity, where infrastructures and human capital development would be given top priority.

Speaking on Monday during the Media Press Parly organized by the Kogi State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Audu stressed that the people of the state have surffered enough under the current administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

Muhammed Audu who is the son of a one time governor of the state, late Prince Abubakar Audu, noted that the selection process that brought up Bello, after the demise of his father, Prince Abubakar Audu was faulty, hence the urgent need to salvage the situation.

He stressed that even though it was not a right as the son of the former governor to contest for the position, but however said that as a young man, his ambition was to impact on the state and the people just like his father does at a very tender age.

“The processes of election does not give room for dynasty, it is the people that can decide who become the next governor of the state. But I have made up mind to make myself available for the selection process for the election.”

“The state have gone through a very high level of decay. We are trying to manage and prevent a complete breakdown of the state. The state is heavily dependent on federal allocation. We need to look for ways to generate money internally without depending on monthly allocation from federal government” he said.

The APC Governorship aspirant assured workers and pensioners that the issue of non payment of salary and pensions will be adequately taken care off by his administration.

He lamented that the infrastructural development is nothing to write home about, saying that most roads in the state are not motorable.

According to Audu, his government will embark on road rehabilitations and also embark on construction of new roads across the three senatorial districts of the state.

In the area of agriculture he promised to make the state one of the food baskets in the country, saying that he will deployed resources into full production of rice in commercial quantity as well as cashew nuts, gari processing and other areas in the agricultural sector.

He also promised to upgrade the health sector in the state by providing drugs, medical equipments and employing qualified doctors and nurses for effective healthcare delivery.

In the area of security he promised to retrieve all illegal guns from people illegally holding them by given them job to whoever vulunterily surrender his or her illegal gun to the government.
