Kogi guber election 2019; Rights Activist suggest ways of achieving violence free, credible, acceptable election

The Executive Director of Executive Director, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution (CHRCR), Comrade Idris Miliki, has advocated Mapping to identify flash points and trigger zones through a template that can be review periodically as One way of minimizing electoral violence in the forthcoming governoship election in the state..

In statement issued on Friday in Lokoja, the Activist, equally said a Multi-stakeholders approach, Security Agencies Agenda, Civil Society Activities, Political Parties Engagement and INEC must be adopted to ensure credible and acceptable election by all.

According to him, INEC should make sure that credible primaries are conducted by political parties in substantial compliance with the extant laws and INEC guidelines.

In addition, Miliki advised that INEC should ensure that It provides adequate materials and logistics on time.

He maintained that there must be an Intensive Media engagement, particularly the Radio and Television, including Stakeholder engagement at Senatorial Levels.

While stressing the need for Intensive voters’ education at each local government level with strategic communication messages with Road shows, Miliki suggested that anybody cought perpetrating electoral violence and malpractices should be arrested and sanction.
