Kogi has made tremendous progress under my watch, says Gov Yahaya Bello

The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello    on Sunday said that the State is making steady progress under his administration, adding that his development programmes in the state are not just for politics, but to create a lasting legacy of performance .

 

Speaking in Lokoja through his Director General, Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, the Governor said he is proud of what his administration has achieved in less than three years.

 

“When we came on board, we made our priorities clear. The priorities were carefully generated from our research and interactions with our people. We knew  the previous administrations did little or nothing to boost agriculture and healthcare and we made a bold step to bridge the gap.

“This administration inherited a terrible security situation. Businesses were folding up and relocating to safer states. But today, they are back in the state as we have ensured security of lives and property in the state through our Operation Total Freedom. We have been able to reduce crime to the barest minimum.

 

“Our Healthcare Plus Program has touched people across the state as they can now access quality healthcare services at a ridiculously low cost. The administration has also been able to reduce infant mortality rate. Recent data showed that we have reduced the rate by over 60%.

 

“Agriculture has become the backbone of our economy as thousands of youth have now found the sector attractive with our mechanized programme and collaborative initiative with the Federal Government.

“The New Direction Government has improved education in the State as well as impact the other key sectors of the State’s economy”. He maintained

 

According to the Governor, the World-class Diagnostic Center in Lokoja and other infrastructural projects across the state are receiving due attention, saying that next year will witness a “festival of project commissioning” in the State.

 

“We have improved our water facilities as well as completed a number of electrification projects. Some road projects have also been completed but we do not need to make noise about them. The most important thing is that the people are putting those facilities to use

“The bigger projects will be completed next year and we shall commission them for our people to take full advantage of those projects”.he said

 

Bello assured the people of the state of his government’s continued commitment to the Welfare of Kogi citizens.
