The Kogi State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was thrown into mourning on Saturday, following the death of four of its staff in a ghastly motor accident along the Ajaokuta – Lokoja highway. .
Others who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident is a Youth Corp member serving with the commission and a 3 year old daughter of one of the deceased woman who also died in the accident .
The staff members were said to be returning from the wedding of one of their colleague which took place in Anyigba, in Dekina Local government area, when their vehicle rammed into an ongoing trailer.
Their bodies were said to have since been deposited at Federal Medical Centre mortuary in Lokoja.
It was gathered that one staff of INEC however survived the accident.
Confirming the accident Ahmed Biambo head of department of Voter Education, said the staff members were returning from the wedding of Ibrahim Yahaya of the ICT department when the unfortunate incident took place.
One of the staff, Mrs Akintunde and her three year old daughter also died in the accident.
Sam Jibrin who was in INEC office on Monday last week said he interacted with Akintude over his PVC which she said would be ready by December.
He expressed shock over the death of the woman and her daughter, described her as very receptive, hardworking and kindhearted.
