The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Kogi State Council, Comrade Ademu Seidu has tasked working Journalists to be physically fit to discharge their duties diligently.
Comr. Seidu made the call on Monday when Members of NUJ Kogi State Council embarked on fitness work as part of activities marking the 2024 Press Week organized by the Union in the State.
He commended journalists in Kogi State for their massive turn out in the road work stressing that this will strengthen the bond among members in the State.
According to him “Ordinarily, other days we dont have time for things like this, that is why we lined up all this activities. To the glory of God, the road work was successful. Starting from Friday to this morning, the road work was a huge success, thank God for the blessings of rain”.
On the place of fitness in the life of working Journalists, Comrade Seidu said “It is very important because journalists needs to be very fit and well because we are always on the move. This fitness exercise will make members work with easy and in good health.
“When you are not sound, this work can not go smoothly. With the level of fitness we have today, I think we are good to go especially with the
grand finale coming up tomorrow”.
He acknowledged that this year’s press week has been very successful adding that Journalists should keep up with the commitment to the union activities in Kogi State.
Comr. Seidu, however, called on Journalists to keep to the ethics of the profession in the discharge of their duties, insisting that the place of Journalists is a democracy, good governance and a better society cannot be overemphasized.
