Kogi revenue drive; KGIRS boss calls for urgent revenue intelligence culture.



The EXecutive Chairman of the Kogi state Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS), Mr. Aliu Salami has called for urgent revenue intelligence culture to improve the Internally generated revenue of the state.

The chairman gave the charge while speaking with a cross section of the Management and the staff drawn from MDAs and directorates in a performance review session held at the Conference hall of KGIRS corporate headquarters in Lokoja.

An impeccable source at the meeting told Journalists that the state Tax master however expressed the optimism that the future of the Service looks bright compared to where it was coming from.

He pointing out that to achieve the stated objectives of KGIRS, all hands must be on deck to grow the overall performance of the Service to optimal level.

It would be recall that the Service have maintained a consistent growth in performance indices since January, 2016 when Governor Yahaya Bello came on board as the Governor of the State .

The monthly IGR of the State according to our source grew from a miserable three hundred million monthly to over 1 billion naira monthly averagely .

However, this figure was said to have been improved upon by Mr. Salami who has been posting a record IGR performance in the neighbourhood of an average of over one billion three hundred thousand nairamonthly as at the first quarter of this year according to an official figure obtained by our reporter .
