Kogi Speaker, Kolawole donates 1.5m to NYSC Kogi State

The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly and Member representing Kabba/Bunu and Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole has donated over 1.5m naira and one live cow to support the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC)  programmes in the state.

 

The Speaker who was on an unscheduled visit to the camp at Asaya being part of his constituency commended the leadership of the corps in the state for their determination and commitment to improve the service.

 

According to him, as a youth friendly representative, he has decided to always be part of their activities on yearly basis, stressing that he would continue to collaborate and support them.

He said the Kogi State House of Assembly under his watch has consistently place priority on youth related issues which has made it to pass the Youth Development Commission and Sports Trust Fund bills to improve the welfare and opportunities for the upcoming generation.

The money donated was used to sponsor some activities in the camp,  like Miss Ebony, Mr Macho, Miss NYSC and others. Winners of these Contests got hundred thousand naira price for the overall best, while the runners up got sixty thousand naira only and the third position in each of the categories got forty thousand naira only.

While he also donated twenty thousand Naira each to the 10 platoons  in the camp aside other items.

 

He also donated a big live cow, 5bags of rice to support the orientation program.

The Speaker who promised to continue to support the corps, appealed to corps members to be serious and dedicated to duty in their various primary assignments.

 

One of the corps members who performed during of one their programmes, got automatic employment opportunity as the Speaker promised to give him employment.

 

Appreciating the Speaker, the Coordinator of the NYSC in Kogi state, Mrs Oludolapo Ahile said the Speaker is a unique and dynamic leader, who leaves his comfort zone to be with them in the camp and support their programs.

She said it is rare to see people of his calibre around, noting that he must be a God fearing politician that loves his people.
