Kogi state Coordinator, NEWMAP, donates borehole, empower widows in Okene



Kogi State Project Coordinator, Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project, (NEWMAP),  Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jato, Monday donated a motorized borehole to hear community in Okene Local Government area of the state to cushion the acute water shortage in the area.

Barr. Jato who also doubles as the Special Adviser to Governor Yahaya Bello on Multilateral and Donor Agencies,  equally empowered widows in her community with start up capital for their businesses and to attend to their immediate needs.

She used the occasion to harped on the need for closer collaboration between government appointees and the people, insisting that government alone cannot do everything for the people, hence the need for intervention by all and sundry.

According to Barr. Jato, in order to bridge development gaps in the Society, there is the need for those privileged to occupy political office and others who are blessed, to extend hands of fellowship to the people.

The Project Coordinator also donated a Motor cycle to the youth leader of her community with a call on youths to refrain from violence before, during and after the forthcoming Kogi state governorship election.

Barr. Ladi described the efforts of government at meeting the needs of her citizens as becoming complex and tedious on a daily basis, saying that the need for intervention by well spirited individuals has therefore become very apt.

The Project Coordinator praised the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello for its efforts at creating a conducive environment, through improved security, providing micro credit and other incentives, that has helped bridged socio economic gaps in the state.

Barr. Ladi assured that she would continue to make the welfare of the people a priority, adding that it is not in the quantity, but urged the people to focus on the intention, so as to encourage other well meaning individuals to give a helping hand.

Speaking at the occasion, the Administrator of Okene LGA, Hon. Mohammed Abdulrazaq, and a former chairman of the council, Hon. Yahaya Karaku, described the gesture by Barr. Ladi Jato as no mean feat.

The duo urged the beneficiaries of the empowerment items and cash to make judicious use of the opportunity, to call on the people to sustain the present peaceful coexistence in the area.
