Kogi State Government upgrade 88 traditional rulers

The Kogi state Government on Wednesday  approved the grading and upgrading of Eighty-eight(88) Traditional Rulers, which it said have been neglected for too long with a promise to correct all forms of injustice associated with traditional institutions in the state. .
The special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Ohere, who announced this in Lokoja said  fifteen Traditional rulers were   upgraded from second class to First class status.
In statement, signed by  Akpata Jordan,
Director Public Relations/Grassroots Sensitization added that eighteen have been upgraded from Third class to second class status, while fifty-five have been graded to Third class.
The statement noted that the upgrade of the Traditional Rulers in the state followed an approval by the State Executive Council.
While urging the upgraded Traditional Rulers to justify their appointment by living above board, the special adviser said the present Administration under the leadership of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, holds Traditional institutions in high esteem and would continue to accord priority to their welfare.
Alhaji Abubakar Ohere said the appointment is with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, the Governor of kogi state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has been commended   by concern citizens of Kogi state, for deeming it fit to honour the wish and desire of the people across the state through their various traditional heads, saying that some of these  stools were  due for decades but were not considered.
The concern citizen of Kogi state gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the special Adviser to the Governor, on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, in Lokoja.
The Group led by Alhaji Isyaka Omeiza, in a mission statement, said the decision of the Governor  is not only laudable but timely as it has given sense of belonging and accommodated the yearnings and  interest of the people which he described as the highest legacy to the royal fathers.
The group also applauded Alhaji Abubakar Ohere for his thoughtful, zeal and advisory role to the state Governor which translated into this laudable decision.
In his response, Alhaji Ohere thanked the Group for appreciating this laudable achievement of  Bello and described the Governor as a leader with strong “political will” to address all manners of injustice in traditional institutions.
He equally commended the State Council of Chiefs for their exemplary leadership quality and urged them to support the Blue print of the present Government.
Alhaji Ohere congratulated all the graded and upgraded traditional rulers in the state and asked them to rule with the fear of God in their heart, to attract peace, love, tranquility and developments to their domains and subjects.
