The Kogi State government has condemned in strong terms the attack on staff and destruction of properties of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Lokoja Area Office on Thursday by a group of lawless protesters.
The Special Adviser to Kogi State Government on Energy and Power, Hon Otayitie Eminefo, who condemned the action of the protesters warned that the perpetrators of these crimes will be sanctioned appropriately.
While calling on the people to maintain law and order, the Special Adviser urged AEDC to always listen to the complaints of the people and improve on their services.
He advised the electricity company to provide prepaid meters to reduce tensions caused by estimated billing and charged them to improve on the poor energy supply to the State currently.
He however called on the general public to exercise restraint and utilize the complaints channels for power related issues, provided by the Kogi State government through the Kogi State Electricity Complaint Centre and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.
