Over 300 persons have been empowered by the Chairman of Kogi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB)Alhaji Abdullahi Ndalayi Sulaiman.


Some of the beneficiaries could not resist their emotions as they expressed their gratitude to the SUBEB boss while receiving the items.


Items which was distributed  include: JAMB forms  to over 200 indigent students,food coolers and textile materials,Ndalayi  said, the items were distributed  to encourage women groups, students and  medium enterprises to ameliorate poverty in the area.


The SUBEB boss  noted that the gesture was part of his contributions to the development of his community and Lokoja/ Kogi Federal Constituency in general.


He said, “Poverty is generally seen as incapacity to have access to the basic things of life such as food, shelter, clothing and  good education.”


“As a  member of a progressive party, whose cardinal objectives include poverty alleviation,I decided to give back to my community what it gives me through social welfare packages to our indigent students and  women organizations across the 21 Local Government Areas that made up the federal Constituency.” he said

According to him :”giving  money to our people will not solve their  problem, so, i decided to get the necessary  tools, let them start their various  business to solve their  family problem. As member of All Progressive Congress, ( APC) we are ever committed than before to deliver the dividend of democracy to our people.”


“He said political appointees and elected officials  have the task of contributing to the development  of their communities” he stated


Speaking at the occasion former speaker and member Representing Lokoja 1 Constituency, Rt Hon. Ahmed Umar Imam said “My advice to  the beneficiaries is to make judicious use of what they have been given because not everyone that requested assistance was lucky to get something. Let them make use of what they have got today. In total, we have over 300 beneficiaries including students.

“I give kudos to the SUBEB  Chairman,Hon. Ndalayi for this programme. This programme will not only reduce poverty, it will also create employment opportunities for the people of Lokoja and the entire people of Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency. My advice to the beneficiaries is to make judicious use of the equipment and the goods presented to them. They should not to sell them,” he said.


He appealed to the people of Lokoja /Kogi federal Constituency and Lokoja in particular to vote for APC candidates in all election.


The chief of staff to Governor Yahaya Bello Chief Edward Onoja in his words said ;” Governor Yahaya Bello is proud of the SUBEB Chairman for the good work he’s doing at the Board.”

“Ndalayi is representing the good people of Lokoja and by his work and action it’s clear that the chairman is making all of us proud,I want to support the chairman with additional 240 textile materials and 100 JAMB Forms to compliment Ndalayi empowerment programs” he said.


He described APC candidates in  the February and March elections as credible and honest candidates and  urged them  to vote enmass for all the APC Candidates.


A beneficiary Malam Suyyudi Bello expressed his gratitude to Ndalayi who he described as a season administrator and a philanthropist.


Highlights of the event include, presentation of textile materials worth thousands of Naira,over  three Hundred food coolers and 200 JAMB forms to the beneficiaries.


The occasion was attended by Chief Edward Onoja, the administrator of Lokoja Local Government area,Hon Shiru Lawal,APC chieftains and a host of others.
