The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq has promised that his government would provide adequate security of lives and property of the people of the state if elected as governor in March.

Abdulrasaq gave the promise on Friday in Ilorin while speaking at the inauguration of 1, 872 polling unit canvassers in all the 193 wards in the 16 local governments and commissioning of Buhari/Osinbajo Project (POB) 2019 Campaign office.

Abdulrasaq said it was unfortunate that the incessant robbery in Kwara South has negatively affected the economic fortune of the people of the area.

“Security is very important to us in Kwara; we thank the Police because they have brought back security to the State.

“It is a shame that few months ago, there was no single bank working in Kwara South because of the Offa robbery incident,” the APC governorship hopeful lamented.

According to him, in most states of the federation, State Governments always collaborate with the Police in the provision of vehicles and fund.

“But regrettably in Kwara, nothing like this collaboration with the Police, they only give arms to thugs and cult members rather than give assistance to the Police,” he added.

Abdulrasaq, who lamented that the whole of Kwara south is dead economically because of the robbery attacks, expressed happiness that banks in Offa were opening for business.

“If you go beyond Offa, people travel from Ekiti, Omu Aran and Oro to Offa to transact bank businesses.

“This situation negates our economy; our monthly Internally Generated Revenue is about N2 billion, we can generate more than this from Kwara South, but without bank, businesses will suffer,” Abdulrasaq added.

He said that one of the key issues his government would focus on was security, adding; “we will bring back security to the state, people will live peacefully,”

The APC governorship candidate accused the PDP led government in the state of complicity in the prosecution of those arrested in connection with the Offa robbery.

He therefore called for the resignation of the PDP led government because of their complicity in the Offa robbery saga.

Abdulrasaq declared that in spite of the fact that top government officials were implicated in the robbery, up till now, no government official has been sanctioned of dismissed.

“PDP led government was involved in complicity because government officials hid and concealed material facts.

“They change number plate, they hide evidence in Government House and up till today, no government official was sanctioned or dismissed, that means they are part and parcel of the robbery,” he added.

He said he initially accused the Police of not doing a thorough job, but added that when he visited the Police, he was convinced that it was the government that was dragging foot on the prosecution.

Abdulrasaq therefore called on the people of the state to vote for APC candidates in February and March to enjoy adequate security.

“You have to return APC back to power in Kwara and at the national level, because APC government will prosecute the case and secure judgment,” he added,

Speaking at the event, Hon Rotimi Amaechi, the Director-General of Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign said the coming election would be between the rich and the poor.

He called on the people of the state to reject the thieves that have milked the nation dry in their 16 years of corruption laden leadership.

“The poor masses of the country must wake up and know that the thieves have ganged up again to continue stealing the people’s money, you must say no this,” Amaechi added.

Amaechi added that the two billion US dollars PDP stole was enough to construct rail road from Lagos to Ilorin to Minna, adding that Federal Government is looking for money to execute the project.

He therefore appealed to the people of Kwara to collectively use their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) to say enough is enough for the looters of treasury.
