Melaye finally surrenders to police after eight days siege by police 




The senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Dino Melaye, who was recently declared wanted by the Nigeria Police this afternoon turned himself over to the police


The senator turned himself in after eight days of Police Siege On his Abuja residence, vowing to remain there until Melaye is arrested.


The Police had invaded Melaye’s residence on Friday and vowed not the leave the premises until the lawmaker surrendered himself for arrest on allegations of criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms.


Melaye was said to have gone to the office of Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) in company of some senators, members of House of Representatives and his Lawyers on Friday

The source added that they had earlier gone to see the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, at the Force headqaurters, but were told that the IGP was in a meeting with the President in the villa.


Unconfirmed source says that the Police are still laying siege on his house as at the time of filling this report.
