NANS: Corruption guarantee no future for Nigerians students,  


The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) said that the incident of corruption bedevilling the nation has mortgaged the future of over 40.1m students, urging president Muhammadu Buhari to sustain his battle against corruption in order to enthrone sustainable development in Nigeria.


The students disclosed this recently as part of the communique raised after the National Conference of NANS which took place at the kogi state polytechnic, Lokoja.


The NANS  noted that the future of the Students in this country cannot be  gauranteed  without curbing corruption, saying that they have resolved from their dialogue at weekend National Conference with the theme: Students, our Society and the Future that they will continue to support administration of president Muhammadu Buhari’s   quest to stem corruption in the country.


In a communique signed by comrade Noah Agada, the national treasurer of NANS and the chief convener of the national conference, Comrade Abdulhamid  Mumin and Muniru Ajibodi,  chairman and secretary  respectively, the students urged management of Institutions in the country not see unionism as a gathering to witch-hunt, but a forum  where Administrative policy can be established on campus via students.

As part of the communique, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) said the only reliable solution to resolve high level of unemployment among graduates in the country is not to play lip service to entrepreneurship.


The students noted that it is expedient for various institutions not to play with issue of entrepreneurship, as it will help in filling the vacuums of joblessness in the Society.


On issues of social Vices and cultism amongst Students in higher Institution, the students said that much emphasis should be placed by the various institutions on how it could be reduced through consistent sensitization of the students,for them  to know that it’s a major challenge toward achieving their academic goals.

The students therefore called upon the government  at all levels to play a pivotal role  towards protecting the interest of the students through adequate security and welfare packages.


While the students urged security agencies to halt hostility  on innocent Citizen or Students, the student body condemn in all ramification the recent incident in Lagos were an innocent fresh graduate of university of Benin  was killed by a stray bullet by men and operatives of SARS, saying that NANS  demands immediate justice over the ugly incident.


However, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Congratulated President Muhammed Buhari(GCFR)  for his victory in the last Presidential election which took place February  23rd, 2019, saying that he should strive hard in his second term to enthrone good governance by overhauling his strategy in act of governance.



Equally,  the student National body commended governor Yahaya Bello for his giant strides in security matters, saying that he remains most student friendly governor of the year; even as NANS said plan is already on the way to decorate him and kogi state police commissioner with the award on this subject.


The NANS national Conference drew student leaders and stakeholders, like Comrade Adediwura I. Adesina, immediate past president and former NANS chairman FCT Chapter led over 32 delegates  from different axis of NANS/ SUG president from kogi, Abuja,Benue, Kwara, Ekiti and Kaduna, Enugu, Rivers as well as Edo and Gombe States.
