Senator Moro condemns medical students’ abduction, appeals for their release

The senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro PhD, condemns the abduction of medical and dental students of Universities of Jos and Maiduguri at Otukpo, in Benue State and appeals for their release.

According to Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, Media Adviser to the Senate Minority Leader, the students were travelling to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu when they were ambushed in the Otukpo area of Benue State and their whereabouts unknown since then.

Senator Moro says the abduction will have great psychological and mental effects on the victims who are studying to cater for the medical needs of people. He appeals to the abductors to release the students unhurt and without further delays to avert whatever effect the incident might have on them and their studies.

The senator decries the rising kidnap and gunmen attack incidents in the country, especially Benue State, and calls on all the relevant government agencies to rise up to their responsibilities and stem the tides.

He also calls on security agencies to ensure the quick release of the abducted students to be reunited with their families.
