Unknown gunmen short kills police, injures Gov Bello’s aide in Kogi

Unknown gunmen suspected to be political thugs have shot dead a police officer attached to the Personal Assistant to the Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

 

Also the Aide to the Governor, Kabir Aliu sustained gun shot wounds when the suspected thugs opened fire on them on their way to Okene country home of the Governor.

 

The Governor himself disclosed this shortly after casting his vote at his Agassa a ward 11 polling unit in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State.

 

The Governor who was forced to wait for nearly two hours due to card reader malfunction expressed disappointment with the Independent National Electoral Commission for shoddy preparation whereby the card reader in the unit malfunction,a situation which made the Governor unable to be accredited and vote for over two hours.

The Governor said that the malfunctioning of the card reader for up to three hours would not orgur well for a transparent and credible election as too many voters would be disenfranchised.

 

“For an election where card readers are expected to shut down at 2 o clock,and in a polling unit such as this with 844 registered voters, many people will be disenfranchised.

 

The Governor however expressed satisfaction with the relative peaceful conducts while the polls were going on.
