… Kogi State Government to Provide uninterrupted Regular Water Supply From Next Week
The Nigeria Union Of Local Government Employees, NULGE, and Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (M&HWUN), Lokoja Local Government, has honoured the Honourable commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. MD Faruk with an Award of Excellence.
Also honoured by the Lokoja chapter of the union is the immediate past Caretaker Chairman of Lokoja local Government area and the present Chairmanship Candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu.
They were decorated at the Lokoja local government legislative chamber on Thursday.
In his remarks, the Hon. Commissioner for water Resources, MD Faruk appreciated the NULGE Executive members in Lokoja for the honour, describing it as real honour and very encouraging.
Farouk dedicated his awards to the state governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, who gave them the wings to fly and operate for a better state.
He added that the award would spur him and others to deliver more services for humanity and Kogi State.

“At the same time, I want to believe that this is one honour that we will not forget in a hurry because we all know what NULGE represents and for them to have found us worthy of this honour in our different fields of endeavour, it is a big surprise.
“So, I want to thank everyone of you, the members and the executive members of NULGE, who have found us worthy of this honour.
“So, I thank NULGE for this opportunity, I want to say great thanks to them, right from the National President, to the Lokoja chapter”.
The Honourable commissioner used the medium to reveal that Lokoja metropolis will henceforth start getting adequate water supply from next week, promised to extend to other areas like phase two and other parts of kogi state in due course.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chairmanship Candidate of APC in Lokoja local government area, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu charged NULGE Executives in the state to continue to compliment efforts of the government in improving living condition of the citizens.
He congratulated other awardees, described them as worthy ambassadors and advised them not to relent in their services to humanity and the state.
In his address at the occasion, states Chairman of the union, Comr. Tom Abutu, said the awardees were selected on merit and enjoined them to do more for the society.
The chairman appealed to the political class to put the interest of Lokoja local government area first in all their dealings.

Engr. Yahaya Mohammed Farouk, Kogi State Commissioner For Water Resources is intelligent and commands camaraderie, was born
over 5 decades ago in Lokoja, is an indigene of Lokoja LGA.
A Professional and an administrator per excellence, has proven to be a leader worth following. Without mincing words, Engr. Farouk has shown at all times that he has the ability to deliver the goods when under difficult and challenging circumstances.
With just about seven months as Commissioner For Water Resources, like he has always done in the past, even when he held sway as the Acting Chairman, Lokoja LGA as a Director of Local Government Administration, used his position to the admiration of the people, reason why though unassuming and unsung, can aptly be described as a goal getter anytime, any day.
Based on his distinguished and untainted personality, a graduate of the prestigious Federal University, Oye, Ekiti State, Engr Farouk, as DLG deployed his power of eloquence, discipline and administrative sagacity to reposition Lokoja LGA as a positive reference, is one man who has presided over Lokoja LGA with long lasting legacies, a feat that has kept reverberating several years after his unprecedented selfless service.
Trained as a Civil Engineer, from a humble beginning, with hardwork, it is not out of place to say that Engr. Farouk possesses the attributes of all great men with modesty.
Great men are leaders driven by ideals of higher attainments and success even when surrounded by impediments that appear insurmountable, reason why the graduate from
Federal Polytechnic, Bida 1995-1998 and the reverred Government Science College, Kagara Niger State 1979-1984,

Engr. Farouk holds a Masters In Engineering, Civil ENG’RG (MENG -Civil)
A Registered Civil Engineer (COREN) since 2014, Engr. Farouk holds a Post Graduate Diploma (CIVIL ENG’RG) since the year 2011.
In the political firmament of Kogi State and Lokoja LGA, Engr. Farouk holds a Higher National Diploma (CIVIL ENG’RG STRUCTURES) in 1998, is in the category of political and professional magnet who have made it own their own to the political centre stage with no fall back platform or push of a godfather of a financial empire, did had his National Diploma (Building Technology) in 1991.
Engr. Farouk in today’s Kogi State is in the fold of the category, talking of emerging political actors, has truly proven to be a political discovery, a truly self made politician with large following, getting the endorsement from far and near, for his dexterity in getting results and a goal getter in every tasks he has engaged in.
The life and times of Engr Farouk is one that inspires the younger generation to be hardworking, intelligent making many youths to be challenged to rise to stardom and to speak well of his generation.

That Engr. Farouk has been able to write his name in gold thus projecting himself as a dependable, reliable and responsible professional and politician who views politics and opportunities to serve as opportunities for public service, is transparent and meticulous in all positions he has held.
His hobbies includes reading, writing, loves watching football, is outspoken and is always looking for ways to better the society.

Engr. Farouk obtained his General Certificate of Education ‘O’ Level in 1984, First School Leaving Certificate in 1979 holds membership of several Professional bodies to include; Nigerian Society Of Engineers, Corporate Member, Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, Corporate Member.
Engr. Farouk once served as a Member, Audit Committee On The Review And harmonization of all
financial regulations and guidelines of Local Government In Kogi State, from 2016, an assignment he distinguished himself, until his appointment as Commissioner for Water Resources.
With a work experience as Head of Local Government Administration Lokoja Local Government Council, Lokoja May 2020 To March 2021before his meritorious retirement.
A former Director Engineering/Works (CIVIL), Lokoja Local Government Council, Lokoja from January 2019 to April 2020, Deputy Director, the traditional title holder of Gabi Sayyadi Of Eggan(Daaniya), has a record of serving in almost all the Local Government Areas of the State, is reputed to have supervised the construction of all the Civil Engineering works aside the current ongoing projects in Lokoja LGA Secretariat.
In his over five decades in life and over three of his professional experience, Engr. Farouk has supervised the Construction of many Rural Feeder roads In eigth
Local Government areas of Anambra State under the World Bank Assisted Fadama III, AF May 2016 – Feb, 2018, and many Construction work.
Engr. Farouk served his fatherland under the National Youth Service Scheme in the Ministry of Works Jigawa State, DUTSE in 1998, is happily married, with the union blessed with Children.
Without sounding immodest, Engr Farouk is always on hand to give a helping hands to the needy and less privileged in the society. A thorough breed professional, climbing the ladder as a politician of eternal value, his ambition is to continue to serve humanity, has no doubt justified the confidence reposed on him in all the places he has found himself, is a personality who commands a very promising future in further service to his fatherland, is therefore truly worthy of the prestigious award to be conferred on him by the Lokoja Chapter of NULGE.
